AI-powered pedestrian detection for maximum safety

One of the out­stand­ing new func­tions of the Tour­Guard sys­tem is AI-sup­port­ed pedes­tri­an detec­tion. This inno­v­a­tive tech­nol­o­gy mon­i­tors the vehicle’s sur­round­ings and warns the dri­ver in time of poten­tial haz­ards when revers­ing. Whether as a pure warn­ing assis­tant or as a com­pre­hen­sive revers­ing assis­tance sys­tem with an emer­gency stop func­tion, Tour­Guard offers the right solu­tion for your fleet.

Container detection & occupational safety measure

Through intel­li­gent con­tain­er and per­son detec­tion, both effi­cien­cy and safe­ty in dai­ly oper­a­tions are sig­nif­i­cant­ly increased. Auto­mat­ic detec­tion and doc­u­men­ta­tion of pro­vid­ed bins enable Tour­Guard to deliv­er com­plete proof of per­formed waste col­lec­tion work. At the same time, the sys­tem pro­tects load­ers dur­ing work on the vehi­cle. Tour­Guard not only ensures greater trans­paren­cy and effi­cien­cy but also active­ly increas­es occu­pa­tion­al safety.

High-resolution cameras and larger monitors for better visibility!

For opti­mal image qual­i­ty, Tour­Guard uses high-res­o­lu­tion Eth­er­net-HD cam­eras that deliv­er razor-sharp images. This allows dri­vers to per­ceive their sur­round­ings pre­cise­ly and ensures that even the small­est obsta­cles or peo­ple are detect­ed at an ear­ly stage. Com­bined with a 10″ mon­i­tor unit that offers bet­ter vis­i­bil­i­ty, the dri­ver can keep their envi­ron­ment in view at all times — by day and night, espe­cial­ly in nar­row or busy areas.

New picture-in-picture function for hazardous situations

A par­tic­u­lar­ly remark­able exten­sion of the Tour­Guard sys­tem is the pic­ture-in-pic­ture func­tion. It is acti­vat­ed as soon as a haz­ardous sit­u­a­tion is detect­ed, for exam­ple, when peo­ple or obsta­cles approach the vehi­cle. The mon­i­tor dis­plays, in addi­tion to the select­ed view of the vehicle’s sur­round­ings, a sec­ond image in real time focus­es on the endan­gered area. This way, the dri­ver is sup­port­ed in haz­ard detec­tion and relieved. Poten­tial risks become vis­i­ble ear­ly on, with­out hav­ing to divert atten­tion from the road or mon­i­tor. This func­tion increas­es dri­ver respon­sive­ness and ensures greater safe­ty in crit­i­cal situations.

Clear vision with TourGuard 360°

Innovative 360° system for improved all-round view

Anoth­er high­light of the Tour­Guard sys­tem is the inno­v­a­tive 360° sur­round view. This func­tion pro­vides the dri­ver with a 360° view around the vehi­cle, which is par­tic­u­lar­ly help­ful when maneu­ver­ing in nar­row streets or revers­ing. The AI-based pedes­tri­an detec­tion mon­i­tors all haz­ard zones around the vehi­cle and active­ly warns of dan­gers. Fur­ther­more, Tour­Guard offers dig­i­tal inci­dent doc­u­men­ta­tion for your fleet.

The Tour­Guard is not just a stand-alone sys­tem but can also be inte­grat­ed with already installed vehi­cle assis­tance sys­tems, such as built-in turn­ing assis­tants. This inte­gra­tion ensures that dri­vers can use all rel­e­vant safe­ty func­tions in a bun­dled and effi­cient manner.

Devel­oped with inno­v­a­tive 3D tech­nol­o­gy, ViSy GmbH has offered an advanced solu­tion since 2015 that is cer­ti­fied accord­ing to DGUV GS-VL 40, specif­i­cal­ly for revers­ing with waste col­lec­tion vehi­cles. With a num­ber of improve­ments, includ­ing opti­mized image qual­i­ty, a larg­er mon­i­tor unit, and AI inte­gra­tion, the Tour­Guard Pro ensures that dri­vers can always work safe­ly and effi­cient­ly even in com­plex and demand­ing environments.

Our Tour­Guard PRO pro­vides reli­able object and pedes­tri­an detec­tion in 3D through the inte­gra­tion of advanced PMD tech­nol­o­gy. Its use is more intu­itive than sim­ple 2D cam­eras and offers the dri­ver max­i­mum vis­i­bil­i­ty as well as the abil­i­ty to assess and rec­og­nize haz­ards at an ear­ly stage.

Protection for staff and pedestrians

Intelligent braking in hazardous situations

The autonomous emer­gency stop func­tion ensures that the dri­ver is warned in time, even in stress­ful or con­fus­ing sit­u­a­tions, by reli­ably detect­ing and sig­nal­ing haz­ards. If the dri­ver does not brake, the sys­tem active­ly inter­venes in the dri­ving process. This func­tion is espe­cial­ly rec­om­mend­ed for revers­ing vehi­cles, where the dri­ver is often impaired by lim­it­ed vis­i­bil­i­ty or envi­ron­men­tal complexity.

Certification according to DGUV GS-VL 40 RAS 2.0

The emer­gency stop func­tion of the Tour­Guard Pro has not only been fur­ther devel­oped but also exten­sive­ly test­ed and cer­ti­fied. The sys­tem meets the require­ments of DGUV GS-VL 40 Cat­e­go­ry RAS V2, an impor­tant safe­ty stan­dard for tech­ni­cal equip­ment of revers­ing assis­tants in the waste man­age­ment sector.
This cer­ti­fi­ca­tion ensures that the sys­tem meets the high­est safe­ty stan­dards and can be used in prac­tice as a tech­ni­cal mea­sure for safe revers­ing — even with­out a signaler.

Mon­i­tor­ing areas Tour­Guard 360° Birdview

The detec­tion areas (in com­bi­na­tion with the 3D revers­ing assis­tance sys­tem) allow an all-round view via monitor.

Mon­i­tor­ing areas Tour­Guard Turn

The dri­ver has a 360° view up to 15 meters on both sides of the vehi­cle — with­out turn­ing away from the for­ward traf­fic situation.

Emer­gency stop zone

The dri­ving assis­tant auto­mat­i­cal­ly stops in case the dri­ver fails to react when mov­ing objects or peo­ple are detect­ed in this zone.

Tour­Guard views on a monitor

The dan­ger zone is dis­played on a mon­i­tor in col­or-grad­ed zones, depend­ing on the dis­tance to the vehicle.

The detec­tion area of our revers­ing assis­tant extends more than 25 m behind the vehi­cle. The dan­ger zone is dis­played on a mon­i­tor in col­or-grad­ed zones depend­ing on distance.

Monitoring areas TourGuard 360° / Birdview

By com­bin­ing Tour­Guard com­po­nents (mon­i­tor, cam­eras, and sen­sors), the dri­ver gains an all-round view of at least 15 m to the front and sides, and more than 25 m behind the vehi­cle — all on just one monitor.

Monitoring areas TourGuard Turn (formerly ViSy ABAS 2.0)

The detec­tion areas of our intel­li­gent turn­ing sys­tem pro­vide 15 m of vis­i­bil­i­ty on both sides of the vehi­cle via mon­i­tor — with­out the dri­ver turn­ing away from for­ward traffic.
