The turn­ing assis­tant for trucks of all kinds: Fol­low­ing the lat­est devel­op­ments and an accu­mu­la­tion of fatal acci­dents dur­ing turn­ing maneu­vers, we have upgrad­ed our secu­ri­ty con­cept to include a fur­ther impor­tant func­tion for util­i­ty vehi­cles. Our 3D turn­ing assis­tant (ABAS for short) is eli­gi­ble for sub­si­dies and meets all the cri­te­ria of the BMVI (Fed­er­al Min­istry of Trans­port and Dig­i­tal Infra­struc­ture). Using defined mon­i­tor­ing areas and state-of-the-art 3D tech­nol­o­gy, we at ViSy GmbH want to make our own con­tri­bu­tion to pre­vent­ing seri­ous acci­dents on pub­lic roads.

That way, we round off our prod­uct range for all-round safe dri­ving on pub­lic roads – suit­able for the stip­u­lat­ed oblig­a­tion for turn­ing assis­tants for util­i­ty vehi­cles. Our sys­tems not only cov­er the revers­ing area, but also pro­vide dri­vers with the high­est pos­si­ble lev­el of sup­port for side areas when turn­ing, set­ting off and stop­ping – even up to 2 meters in front of the vehicle.

The ViSy turn­ing assis­tant is more than just a cam­era fas­tened to the truck. We use a state-of-the-art 3D-cam­era which uses PMD (Photon­ic Mixer Device) tech­nol­o­gy, not only to detect per­sons along­side the vehi­cle, but also to sup­ply data relat­ing to the dis­tance and move­ments of all objects. The intel­li­gent sen­sor-cam­era-mon­i­tor sys­tem provides:

  • Object detec­tion
  • Vol­ume calculation
  • Speed mea­sure­ment

In addi­tion, it warns the dri­ver of haz­ards with acoustic and opti­cal sig­nals. Our soft­ware is able to eval­u­ate the sup­plied data in a frac­tion of a second.

In the future, turn­ing assis­tants will be com­pul­so­ry for util­i­ty vehi­cles, such as trucks. How­ev­er, there are cur­rent­ly still sub­si­dies pro­grams which pro­vide invest­ment aid. The ViSy ABAS not only meets all the cri­te­ria of the BMVI (Fed­er­al Min­istry of Trans­port and Dig­i­tal Infra­struc­ture) for sub­si­dies for equip­ping and retro­fitting turn­ing assis­tants on util­i­ty vehi­cles, but is also part of the “Aktion Abbiege­as­sis­tent” turn­ing assis­tant campaign.

Das 3D-Unterlaufschutzsystem wurde speziell für Seitenlader und Müllwagen entwickelt.

The under­run pro­tec­tion sys­tem is designed specif­i­cal­ly for refuse col­lec­tion vehi­cles with lifter arms which can be par­tic­u­lar­ly haz­ardous to passers-by when lift­ing and low­er­ing garbage cans.

Our tech­ni­cal tool for con­sid­er­able reduc­tion of haz­ards when revers­ing. The speed which is lim­it­ed to 9 km/h, and the intu­itive sys­tem make sure the dri­ver can react in good time – or the assis­tant inter­venes into con­trol of the vehi­cle itself.

Der Abbiegeassistent vergrößert beim Abbiegen den Sichtbereich des LKW-Fahrers.

The assis­tant expands the mon­i­tor­ing area of the vehi­cle oper­a­tor and makes sure that no objects or per­sons are over­seen in bends, when mak­ing a turn or when turn­ing the vehi­cle around.
